The Lower Pine Project is located along state highway 71 west of Cambridge en-route to Brownlee Reservoir.Four private landowners are currently working in this area with more indicating interest in the future.The Bureau of Land Management, the United States Forest Service and the county weed department have worked together to reduce the plant mass in this rocky drainage.Landowners have witnessed the success of neighborhood projects and are truly pleased with the results of their efforts.Aerial treatments have been done in this are in the past but brush and trees were the highest casualties of those applications.Biological agents have been released in a portion of this project area in an attempt to bring the rapidly spreading spurge infestations into check.Pine Creek flows into Brownlee Reservoir which is currently spurge free and by assisting these weed warriors with this project another waterway has been saved.
