Landowners in the Keithley Creek drainage are waging war on Leafy spurge, Rush skeletonweed, Scotch thistle and White top. The BLM, Forest Service, Idaho Department of Lands, Friends of the Weiser River Trail, Idaho Power and the county weed department have pulled together to assist 11+ private landowners with herbicide treatments in this area. This project includes flat rangeland pastures as well as pristine forest and of course rocky areas so hazardous no one can navigate them. Herbicide treatments have been extremely effective and biological agents for Leafy spurge have been released in portions of this neighborhood in an effort to contain this silent invader. In addition goats were introduced to a portion of the area this past summer assisting with containment/control efforts. This area is heavily relied upon for cattle grazing as well as wildlife habitat.
